1-B. Table of Muhammad’s Titles

The references and the totals that are based on them are close approximations. It goes with Part One in the series: Either Jesus or Muhammad.

As I say in every post in this series:

Jesus said:

“He who is not with me is against me. He who does not gather with me scatters.” (Luke 11:23, my translation)

In following Islam, people who call themselves Muslims have scattered from Jesus. They must come to him and follow him exclusively. They must pray: “Jesus, I follow you and you alone. I leave behind my previous religion. I am now yours, forever.”

Now let’s begin the study to see the huge differences between Jesus and Muhammad.

This post has a companion post that interprets these data:

1. Either Jesus or Muhammad: Their Natures and Roles

The titles are warner, announcer, messenger, and prophet. I lay out the basic data with few theological comments or criticisms.

Table 1

Warner: Nadhir

Notes:Red refers to Muhammad.
Green refers to Muhammad when he is implied in a verse, but not explicitly mentioned.
Black refers to Biblical warners, humans or angels.
Blue refers to warners generally, unspecified.
Brown refers to Allah and his angels or the Quran.
Violet refers to non-Biblical warners other than Muhammad. the number in parentheses indicates how many times the same word is found in one verse, but only if more than once. In addition to the nouns (e.g. warner), verbs or clauses are included (e.g. Warn! or Muhammad gives warning).Sura means Chapter. Some were revealed while Muhammad lived in Mecca, others in Medina, after his Hijrah or Flight there in AD 622.

Prophet: Nabi

Notes:Red refers to Muhammad.
Green refers to Muhammad when he is not explicitly mentioned in a verse, but only implied.
Black refers to Biblical prophets.
Blue refers to prophets generally, unspecified.
Violet refers to non-Biblical prophets other than Muhammad.Number in parentheses indicates how many times the same word is found in one verse, but only if more than once.Since the goal is to analyze titles, only the noun “prophet” is counted here. The verb form of nabi is typically translated as “to inform” and is most often found in the clause “Allah will inform humanity of their deeds in the Last Day.” But here is a partial list of references that apply to Muhammad informing, telling, or declaring: Suras 3:15; 5:60; 15:49, 51; 18:3; 22:72; 27:221; 34:7.Sura means Chapter.
