Yes, I believe I should offer my opinion on this global matter. My website covers current events. It is part of my calling. Here are the main facts and allegations in this complex and developing story. This post will take a shorter time to read than the long and numerous videos on YouTube! This post is regularly updated. So check back.
After praying about it, I feel strongly led to cover this story, in my own way.
To expand on the intro, the YouTube videos about this issue are too long: sixty minutes to two hours (and even three hours! And they are everywhere now, on many channels. Too confusing.
Here in this post the word count is high because I quote from the sources. Please be patient. But you can still read this post in shorter time than sixty minutes or two or three hours, on numerous channels. And you can control the data points by scrolling up and down or doing a ctrl-f word search. I put the main facts and allegations in order.
This post presents the confirmed and admitted facts (except a few points which are allegations), mostly in their own words or in reliable reports. And then I offer my interpretation or opinion on those facts and allegations and reports. Nothing more than that.
Don’t Make Excuses for Unsound Christian Leaders
At that link, I repeat common excuses (e.g. “don’t judge!” or “touch not the Lord’s anointed!”) and reply to them.

Here Is Doug Weiss’s (Digitized) Dissertation
Let’s begin.
Facts and Allegations
(1)..This one is an allegation until proven in a court of law. The most important part of this complex story is to find justice for the little girl.
Jonathan and Suzy accuse Marcus and Joni of cover-up
The day their daughter disclosed the alleged abuse, Suzy said she immediately called Joni, who urged Suzy not to go to police but instead to bring the girl to her. After meeting one on one with Joni, the girl stopped talking about what had happened, Suzy and Jonathan said.
“I don’t know what happened there,” Suzy said, but she was like a “lock box.”
“She doesn’t remember one thing,” Jonathan added. “She doesn’t even remember having that conversation. It’s like it never happened.”
Source: Julie Roys Report: EXCLUSIVE: Former Daystar Executive & Wife Accuse Joni Lamb of Covering Up Daughter’s Sexual Abuse
My opinion: Yes, this may be an allegation until proven in a court of law, but I believe it, right now. Texas law says that anyone suspecting child abuse must report it. In California, the witness is called a “mandated reporter.” If she covers it up, she could be prosecuted and spend a maximum of one year in jail or pay a $1000 fine, or both. If it does go to trial, I hope Joni is called to testify and found guilty of a failure to report. I hope “Pete,” if proven guilty, spends some time in prison.
(2).. Marcus Lamb, late founder and president of Daystar, and husband to Joni Lamb, died on November 30, 2021. On January 27, 2022, not even two months after Lamb’s passing, Doug Weiss filed for divorce from his wife Lisa of thirty-plus years. The divorce was granted on May 31, 2022.
Source for the divorce decree, with an actual image of it, at Susan Puzio, Prophetic News:
My opinion: The timing tells me that he divorced his wife in pursuit of the wealthy and famous widow, Joni Lamb, who now oversees Daystar. It is reportedly valued at $1 billion. She owns gigantic houses, worth millions, each.
Source for her houses: Prophetic News with Susan Puzio: Joni Lamb Mansion (FF to 31:00)
(3).. Weiss claims he had been neglected and abused by his wife Lisa for thirty years or more.
Source: Wake Up and win Podcast: Analyzing the Controversial *now DELETED* INTERVIEW at DAYSTAR with Marcus Rogers and Joni Lamb (FF to 1:29:00)
Update (1/9/2025): Julie Roys put out a shorter video (just below), in which Jonathan Lamb says Jimmy Evans never spoke with Lisa, but he can still claim Lisa abused Weiss. Can Evans do this in good conscience, Jonathan asks? Weiss loses his temper.
My opinion: In both of those videos, Weiss loses his temper. He is a marriage counselor. Could he not solve his own problems? Or does he have documented and correctly dated proof that he sought counseling to save his first marriage? If the marriage was unsalvageable for thirty-plus years, why didn’t he divorce Lisa long before Marcus Lamb died? No. Actually, his claim that Lisa abused him for thirty+ years appears made up, to justify his divorce and to pursue the “queen” of Daystar. Everyone can see this. But Joni and Weiss think they can gaslight us.
Update: January 14, 2025: I embed this video (runs for 12:48) without offering my opinion. A counselor, speaking anonymously and in a disguised voice, says Doug Weiss is a sociopath:
Source: Laura-Lynn Tyler Thompson: Whistleblower: Expert Psychologist Calls Out Doug Weiss on “Narcissistic and Histrionic” Behaviours
(4).. Jimmy Evans says that he never once heard Weiss badmouth Lisa (Weiss’ ex-wife).
At that above link, FF to 1:01:56 to hear him.
Further, here’s Joni saying Weiss never criticized Lisa, which means he heroically (my word) covered for her and never exposed her to be a bad wife. Joni also reports that Weiss said he even loved his wife. Joni admires him for his suffering in silence.
Jenesis Production is doing a great job editing videos with the words from the principal parties’ own mouths. At this link FF to 18:00:
Source: Daystar Scandal: In Their Own Words
At that link, Weiss says how awesome Lisa was. She thinks he’s “hot!”
My opinion: Now the deception runs so deep, Joni and Jimmy interpret Weiss’s silence and his declaring he loved Lisa (and all his other positive affirmations) as his actually suffering in silence, in an abusive and neglectful marriage. This is twisted and backwards. No, the fact that Weiss never badmouthed Lisa signifies that he had enjoyed a good marriage with her, all those years. He even truly loved Lisa.
And so the real reason he never criticized Lisa for all those years is because she was a good wife. And now the only time she suddenly turned into a bad wife is when Marcus Lamb died. And Weiss had to come up with a justification to divorce her, in order to pursue the rich and famous widow, Joni Lamb.
Jenesis Productions also has this video in which Doug excitedly proclaims how awesome his marriage was to Lisa:
Source: Fifty Shades of Dr. Doug (FF to 3:22)
My opinion: At that video Weiss does not appear to be covering up any pain. The truth is as I just wrote. He and Lisa had a great marriage.
Update January 7, 2025: At the Roys Report, there is a recording embedded in the article that says:
When describing his wife to Joni and her late husband Marcus Lamb, Weiss said his wife had “the purest heart I’ve ever met. . . . She loves and serves with excellence.”
At this link, next, scroll down to the video (recorded May 5, 2023), to hear Weiss’s admiration for his beloved Lisa:
Source: Jimmy Evans Announces He’s Leaving XO Marriage, Following Daystar Backlash
My opinion: Weiss claimed his wife Lisa had been abusive for thirty years only after Marcus Lamb died on November 30, 2021 and he filed for divorce on January 27, 2022. Don’t believe Joni’s and Weiss’s gaslighting and denying the obvious.
(5).. Suzie alleges that Joni told her that Lisa was fighting for the marriage.
Source: Wake Up and Win Podcast: Analyzing the Controversial *now DELETED* INTERVIEW at DAYSTAR with Marcus Rogers and Joni Lamb (FF to 52:00)
My opinion: This rings true to me. Even Joni herself said Weiss had said that he loved his wife.
(6).. In that light, Doug Weiss wrote a book Married and Alone, published on December 23, 2022. Here is a description of the accompanying workbook:
This book is part of the Married and Alone Book Set along with the Married and Alone: Healing Exercises for Spouses workbook and the Married and Alone: The Twelve Step Guide. Rebuild your relationship, regain lost trust, and reestablish intimacy after the damage of your or your partner’s sexual addiction with our guide for sex addicts and their spouses.
My opinion: The timing of the publication of this book looks suspicious. (It takes some time to write a legit book.) He had been pursuing Joni at that time. Did he need this book to lay the groundwork to claim that he had been “married and alone”?
Also, why did Weiss not apply his own workbook and seek healing and restoration with his first wife Lisa, if their marriage was so awful? According to Joni, he told people he loved her. Why not rekindle this love? He is a trained marriage counselor, after all. Or he must surely know other counselors who could have helped.
Update: It should be noted that earlier versions of the book exist:
Discovery Press; 2nd edition (February 16, 2016)
My opinion: my questions still stand: why reissue it on December 23, 2022? Was he laying the groundwork to accuse Lisa Weiss of being a bad wife, so he could justify his divorce?
In an audio recording dated May 5, 2023 and posted by One Life, Many Seasons on January 3, 2025, Joni is heard reading from Married and Alone, saying it was ten years old. The sections she reads is about a woman who neglects her husband by looking at her cell phone too many times and doing other things.
My opinion: those neglectful things do not support a divorce. The marriage could be salvaged. Weiss is a counselor, after all. Or he knew people who were counselors.
(7).. In any case, Doug Weiss and Joni Lamb were married on June 30, 2023.
Source: Wikipedia: Joni Lamb
My opinion: Did they have contact on some level before the divorce? Suzie alleges that Joni had said Lisa had been fighting for the marriage. So Joni and Weiss had had some contact during the divorce proceedings (or afterwards).
Update: February 14, 2025: Scroll down to point no. 26 for evidence that they had contact before Weiss’s divorce was final. Joni was no grieving widow.
Update
(8).. Here’s an excerpt about his counseling malpractice.
Quote:
Malpractice[edit]
On November 23, 2010, Doug Weiss admitted to malpractice of psychology.[20] In or about September 2008, Doug Weiss failed to implement appropriate therapeutic interventions during a three day “intensive.” Rather than assessing the situation , deescalating the anger expressed by the couple toward each other, providing a positive therapeutic approach to the marital discord, working on the marriage, and focusing on therapeutic methods for the couple to employ when discussing their relationship, Doug created more adversity and alienation between the couple and elevated the marital discord by becoming an executioner of the marriage and rushing both of them into discussions about ending the marriage, distribution of marital assets, divorce (both individually and as a couple), and moving on with their lives; writing anger letters; and writing “goodbye letters” to their dreams, their marriage, and each other.[20]
On December 3, 2002, the Colorado State Board of Licensed Professional Councilor Examiners issued a Letter of Admonition to Doug Weiss and found probable cause that Doug Weiss misrepresented his credentials by using the term “Licensed and Marriage and Family Therapist” which is protected to be used by licensed marriage and family therapists and his use thereof falls below generally accepted standards of practice.[21]
End quotation.

My opinion: The above excerpt confirms my impression. The few times I saw Weiss on Daystar, he came across as adversarial and harsh. He is now sowing discord at Daystar.
Update: February 14, 2025: Laura Lynn Tyler Thompson reads emails and shows a video from clients at Heart to Heart Counseling, which is Weiss’s counseling practice.
Source: Doug Wiess Marriage Counselling FRAUD
My opinion: These stories are revealing and even horrifying. Weiss is a menace.
(9).. Did he file a fraudulent 990 Tax form? This is an allegation until proven in a court of law. Trinity Foundation reports:
Marriage counselor and sex therapist Dr. Doug Weiss has become a host of Daystar Television Network’s TV show MinistryNow after marrying Daystar co-founder Joni Lamb, following the death of her late husband Marcus Lamb.
Weiss founded Healing Time Ministries and the American Association for Sex Addiction Therapy. Both entities operate in a questionable manner.
An investigation by journalist Jene Nelson revealed that Healing Time Ministries appears to have filed a fraudulent postcard 990 with the IRS.
In 2022, the Carl H and Edyth B Lindner Foundation gave a $400,000 grant to Healing Time Ministries. However, Weiss’ non-profit organization reported to the IRS that its total revenue for 2022 was $50,000 or less.
Where did this money go? It would be appropriate for the IRS Exempt Organizations Division to audit the non-profit organization to find out.
Source: Trinity Foundation: Daystar Television Co-Host Doug Weiss Filed Questionable 990, Runs Association for Sex Therapists as a Personal Business
My opinion: I know nothing about tax filings and documents, so I let the readers decide. They can click on the link (above) to form their own opinion. The evidence looks strong, though.
(10). Trinity foundation: Using the Ministry Jet for Romance? Daystar’s Joni Lamb Visited Fiancé, Now Husband, and New Condo on Ministry Jet
My opinion: this too is an allegation until proven in a court of law, but I believe the report, because the evidence at the linked article appears strong. They did use the “ministry jet” for personal purposes, and not only for business. People contribute money to Daystar for ministry, not Joni’s luxury living..
(11).. Trinity Foundation: Televangelist Joni Lamb Paid for $100,000 Honeymoon with Ministry Credit Card: Applying the Tax Code to Non-Profit Expenditures
Here’s a brief summary of the strong evidence and documentation by Julie Roys:
Update: Julie Roys Report says that $36,780.32 was charged on her company card in October 2022 towards the resort Ventananas al Pairaiso, in Mexico. The records at the honeymoon resort names Joni Lamb and Doug Weiss. And then another record says $60,041.68 was charged on her company card in May 2023 at the same resort. Recall that they married on June 30, 2023. The honeymoon was taken in July 2023.
Source: Julie Roys Report. Daystar President Joni Lamb Denies Ministry Paid $100K for Honeymoon, but Reports Tell Different Story
The video link has screenshots of the charges.
My opinion: This too is an allegation until proven in a court of law, but the Roys report has screenshots of the charges on the company credit card This makes Daystar and Joni look bad. (Did they fly down to the resort in Mexico in October 2022, before marriage? I don’t know, but it appears suspicious.)
In any case, people give money to Daystar to reach out to the world (“Heart for the World!”), not to pay for her expensive honeymoon.
Of course she denies it:
What else is she supposed to say? But the documented, screenshot evidence appears strong.
(12).. Weiss talks excitedly about a “sex language” on Daystar, in the company of Joni Lamb and the ladies of Table Talk, before his divorce and his and Joni’s marriage.
Source: The Last Days: Joni Lamb’s husband Doug Weiss exposes his perverse mind on live TV
My opinion: Weiss is out of balance.
(13).. Weiss talks about a “blessed” or “cursed” male reproductive organ:
Source: Jenesis Productions Day Star Scandal: In Their Own Words (FF to 11:30).
My opinion: It appears he was speaking at a men’s conference, but he still took things too far. His interpretation of Scripture, linking the tithe to the male reproduction organ, goes a long way to support my earlier impression that he is harsh, not knowing the boundaries.
(14).. Source: Prophetic News with Susan Puzio: Joni Lamb’s husband Doug Weiss says Jesus died for us to have great sex
He said this in front of Joni Lamb and the ladies of Table Talk.
My opinion: Once again, he does not know where the boundaries are. Jesus died for a variety of reasons, but not for people to have great sex. His theology and Bible interpretation is substandard.
At that link I give biblical reasons for Christ’s death, and a married couple’s great sex is not one of them.
(15).. Quote: “Doug Weis is a disgrace to the Christian community. A false Holy Spirit is being taught at Daystar In this clip, Doug makes blasphemous comparisons of the Holy Spirit to ZZ’s top guy with a big beard.”
He also says the Holy Spirit is like the fun and crazy guy because he makes a mess of things.
Source: Brother John Elving’s Facebook page.
My opinion: all of this and the previous wacky statements add up to Weiss being a strange man who should not have a global ministry on Daystar or any other platform. He is out of balance.
(16).. Joni admits that she got a prophecy, discernment, and a dream from Shawn Bolz, Jimmy Evans, and a security guard named Shannon Kelly (respectively). (I don’t quote Kelly’s long dream. You can read it at the second link, below.) Joni says:
Shortly after some people learned that Doug and I were seeing each other, Shawn Bolz told me the Lord showed him there would be many significant marriages in 2023 and that God was bringing couples together in unusual pairings. Doug and I sure fit that description; we are certainly an unusual pairing.
[…]
Jimmy himself knew that he was accountable to God for what he taught and how he counseled. He later confided in me, “Joni, when you came to me and began to talk to me about Doug, I was concerned as your older brother in Christ. My concern was, I don’t want anything for you that God won’t bless. If I felt like this guy was a bad guy, someone that had divorced without a cause or whatever, I’d chase him off. I don’t care what you say; I’d chase him off! I seriously prayed about it because I knew I needed the discernment of the Lord.”
Sources:
And this post:
My opinion: Bolz, Evans, and Kelly used a prophecy, discernment, and a dream to endorse the unbiblical marriage between Weiss and Joni, in contradiction to the clear teaching of Scripture; Matthew 19:9 reads:
I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.” (Matt. 19:9)
All of the above data demonstrate (to me) that there has never been a compelling case for Weiss’s divorce. As noted above, Lisa was fighting for the marriage. Evans and Joni said they never heard Weiss criticize Lisa. There was no bad marriage. Evans and Bolz and Kelly were wrong to contradict Scripture against divorce. This is hyper-charismatic nonsense, so prevalent in the American charismatic churches right now. (I consider Bolz to be a false prophet who data-mines for his prophecies … He has earned the nickname “The cell phone prophet.”) A prophecy, discernment, and a dream over Scripture? No!
Now, due to those men’s confusing use of the gifts, Joni and Weiss are living in a perpetual state of adultery.
(17).. Jonathan and Suzie claim that Tom Calendar, a retired lawyer who was heard coercing Jonathan to sign an NDA, said that Calender flipped from rejecting Joni’s and Doug’s marriage to accepting it because he felt threatened and scared. Doug Weiss may come after him.
Source: Laura-Lynn Tyler Thompson: Jonathan and Suzy at Home: Daystar’s Tom Calender “Changed His Tune After Joni Got To Him” (December 27, 2024) FF to 7:30
My opinion: This is a brand new claim that no one had heard before. Why did Jonathan and Suzie insert it at this time? I don’t doubt their claim, but it would have been better to hear about it earlier. More credibility.
(18).. Update: In this video posted on January 3, 2025, by Brother John Elving, Joni Lamb, Doug Weiss, Jimmy Evans, Jonathan Lamb and Suzie Lamb can be heard discussing a change in attitude and policies when Weiss entered the picture. Who will lead Daystar? Why have the policies been changed (if they have)?
Jonathan said Weiss was also allowed to have a “massive salary”; then Weiss interrupted him and said, “which is a half a million less than I’m making right now.”
My opinion: In listening to a large part of the video, it is now very clear to me that Jimmy Evans, Doug Weiss, and even Suzie Lamb need to butt out of the conversation. Weiss says he does not lead Daystar; if true, he does not need to offer his opinion about the leadership there. In another video Suzie said she was happy to be a homemaker, and since she said her little daughter has been abused at Daystar, now for certain she wants to avoid the place.
Therefore, this conversation should be between mother (Joni) and son (Jonathan), only. There would be a lot more peace and even reconciliation, possibly. Joni and Jonathan can work out who can lead Daystar and Jonathan’s involvement. Too many voices = too much confusion.
Further, what about Weiss’s massive salary? Taking donations to fund lavish lifestyles has to stop.
(19).. Update: January 22, 2025. In a recording on May 5, 2023, which Jenesis Productions posted on January 22, 2025, Joni Lamb reports that her daughter Rebecca called her an adulterer and she has a demon.
Source: Jenesis Productions: Joni & Rebecca Confrontation
My opinion: How can I disagree with Rebecca? I don’t.
(20).. Update: January 23, 2025: Roys Report interviews a former personal assistant of Marcus and Joni Lamb and published it on January 23. Also included is the lawsuit by Jeannette Hawkins, who got entangled in the seven-year affair between Marcus D. Lamb and Janice Smith.
Source: The Roys Report: What’s Really Going On at Daystar? Insider Tells All
Update (March 12, 2025): This is Jeanette Hawkins as she is interviewed by Julie Roys.
Update: March 12, 2025: Jeannette Hawkins is also interviewed by Laura Lynn Tyler Thompson:
My opinion: In the first video, Joni comes across as a spoiled-brat, corrupt tyrant. Is it too late for her and Daystar to repent? I’m not sure, but I think so. God is in the process of taking it down. Daystar shall fall!
In the second and third videos (interviews), Jeannette is brave and courageous. She had to put up with a lot.
(21).. Update: January 23, 2025. Laura Lynne Tyler Thompson posted a letter from a Lamb family member, Joni’s nephew and niece (by marriage). The husband and wife describe another suspicious family member other than “Pete.” The couple left Daystar to find safety and sanity.
I notice that Wake Up and Win podcast posted the same letter without a long analysis–not as long as that of Laura Lynn.
Source: Wake Up and Win: DAYSTAR WHISTLEBLOWER: Joni Lambs Nephew and Former Daystar Employees SPEAK OUT
My opinion: Joni looks like a lost cause. It probably is too late for her to repent. Daystar shall fall. But at least her nephew and niece confirm what Jonathan and Suzi have been saying.
(22).. Update: January 26, 2025: Joni and Doug film themselves shooting pistols at targets labeled “Cancel Culture” and “Censorship.” Security Guard Shannon Kelly was teaching them to load and fire the pistols.
Source: Jenesis Productions (posted January 26, 2025): Ministry or Mob?
Wake Up and Win have a humorous take on this decision (posted January 26, 2025). They also criticize Joni for saying independent youtube critics don’t have “the anointing” to have their social media platforms: DAYSTAR: Joni’s DISASTROUS Social Media Strategy
My opinion: First, Daystar has employed their team of lawyers to cancel and censor youtubers from posting their videos criticizing Daystar. So Daystar executives and their agents are hypocrites. Second, censorship comes from the government, not independent critics and not from donors who (wisely) no longer give money. If fewer people tune into Daystar, this drop in viewers is on Daystar, not anyone else. Third, how can Joni set herself up to judge who has the anointing? Because she has a TV ministry, and the youtubers don’t? Nonsense. She’s the one who obviously doesn’t have the anointing. Fourth, in this context, firing guns could be construed as a threat to violence. That’s illegal. Fifth, Daystar is being taken down by God himself, using ordinary disciples who are wising up.
(23).. Update: January 27, 2025: Ms. Kim Chadwell of Holy Nation Official posted a video in which she “expelled” Daystar and Joni Lamb and Doug Weiss from the body of Christ.
Ms. Chadwell appeared on Laura-Lynn Tyler Thompson and said she needed to appeal to the Courts of Heaven.
My opinion: Her “expel” video is making the rounds on YouTube, and my fellow Charismatics are into it and applauding it. I admit she has a strong motive to do this. We are all frustrated with how slowly God is taking down Daystar. So I do not question her motives and good will, nor her sincerity or boldness or passion.
However, this smacks of hyper-charismatic presumption. I consider the Courts of Heaven doctrine to be a kind of neo-Gnostic heresy because it is convoluted and complicated; it takes us away from the simplicity of the gospel and direct prayer to our Father in heaven.
Next, no one like you or me can expel anyone from the body of Christ unless we are overseeing a local church like Paul was, in Corinth. In his case he told the church to remove a sinning brother from fellowship (1 Cor. 5; also see Titus 3:10-11). But Ms. Chadwell is not the apostle Paul, nor does she oversee a church which Weiss and Joni attend. Therefore they are not really evicted from the entire body of Christ just because of her eviction video. She has no real biblical authority. It is probable that Joni and Doug will laugh it off.
Yet … if the video motivates some people to stop giving to Daystar, then some good was accomplished. Drying up the money flow to Daystar is the quickest way to stop it in its tracks. But it’s a bad idea to follow unsound ministry practices or doctrines to accomplish a good goal. God will answer the simple prayers of thousands and will take down Daystar, but not from one eviction video.
Hyper-charismatics need to stop following the latest trends and fads in strange books written by other hyper-charismatics and instead get back to a solid understanding of Scripture.
(24).. Update: February 6, 2025: In this video Doug Weiss appears sedated or intoxicated:
Source: Laura-Lynn Tyler Thompson: Daystar: Has Doug Weiss Destroyed Numerous Marriages? (FF to 37:50).
This video is short and sarcastic:
Allegedly soo (sic)
My opinion: The verses that came to mind are these, about the ancient Israelites, wandering in the wilderness:
13 They soon forgot His works;
They did not wait for His counsel,
14 But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness,
And tested God in the desert.
15 And He gave them their request,
But sent leanness into their soul. (Ps. 106:13-15, NKJV, emphasis added)
Weiss lusted after Joni and Daystar and fame, and God is shoving Weiss’s mouth full of quail and manna–full of the things he lusted after. Now he has a lean soul. Normally I would feel sorry for him, but he is the worst narcissist and manipulator and flat-out liar imaginable. We are watching God judging him and taking him down. But we can all pray for him to do the right thing (see Recommendations and Counsel, below).
(25).. Update: February 9, 2025: Joni Lamb offered an extended interview with Steven Strang on the Strang Report on February 6, 2025:
Since this a key interview, my opinion is long.
(1) The sound scratched. Bad production value from the Strang Report. (2) The interview seem scripted, but this is not a bad or an unusual thing, even if Strang gave her the questions in advance. Sometimes interviewers do this. (3) Joni is very smooth and calm. She’s been on Christian TV since the early 1980s. Of course she would be practiced. I cannot claim her tone and demeanor is fake. It comes naturally to her. (4) At the beginning, she reviews her young life and early Daystar. I heard it before, and I can’t say this part of her story is completely false or invented.
(5) Marcus “died prematurely,” Strang observed. Joni replied he did not die prematurely. He finished his course. However, her daughter-in-law Suzie alleges that the oxygen source was reduced for Marcus Lamb while lying in his hospital bed, until she came in for her shift in the early morning. Then she turned up the knob. A serious charge! In any case, dying at 64 is young and communicates to reasonable people that he did die prematurely. No grieving widow here. (6) How did she process her grief? She gave a bad answer. She grieved for six months, though she claims an ophthalmologist told her to stop crying so much. Let’s not forget Marcus Lamb cheated on her for seven years. Six months does seem short, indicating no love loss. (7). She depends too heavily on strange prophets or letters. (And yes I believe that the gift of prophecy is valid today, but not from strange or unknown characters.) (8) God did not leave Daystar without a leader, says Joni. However, according to Denise Boggs, a counselor, Marcus Lamb dictated his will. Jonathan should lead it. But Joni took over. Wrong leader.
(9) A media storm is now brought up in the interview. She replied that God will be faithful, and truth will prevail. God will defend her. She trusts him. Her voice seemed a little shaky. She does not listen to youtube channels or podcasts. God will be faithful about her family. On the other side of the storm, God will bless Daystar. Reply: Yes, but only after Joni repents (if she still can) and turns over Daystar leadership to someone else, like Jonathan. Then the trial must go forward and give justice to Jonathan’s daughter. (10) What about spiritual warfare? Joni replies that the vloggers are after money; they’re greedy. Really? What about Daystar asking for money and their executives’ lifestyles and her several mansions and jet? Apparently only “bottom-feeders” vloggers can be greedy, but not Daystar. But the fact is, vloggers don’t make money, certainly not enough to live on. Daystar does.
(11) God is blessing Daystar, she claims. It’s growing. Millions have been added to its audience. Then why the reports that Daystar is not holding a fundraiser this time around?
Final points.
(12) Listening to her speak for 57:32 was a tough slog, but I concede that her voice and tone made listening to her easier. But I don’t let her smooth tone mislead me, either.
(13) It was a softball interview. We learned nothing we already did not know. Of course she would defend herself.
(14) All of the above points in this entire post annul her damage control interview with Strang. Good thing her son Jonathan secretly recorded the many other past discussions. She was shown to lie and manipulate, in her own voice. Those previous recordings don’t lie.
(15) To be more believable, she needs to be interviewed by Julie Roys, in person. Roys is a professional journalist. Untrained vloggers are full of bravado and amateurism, (though Laura Lynn Tyler Thompson could possibly do a good enough job, since she has all the facts at her fingertips.) But what am I talking about? Joni will never do this!
(16) If the Strang Report were fair, Steven Strang should now interview Jonathan and Suzie.
(26).. Update: February 14, 2025: Prophetic News TV Susan Puzio produced a short video (3:35) that says Weiss and Joni had some contact before his divorce was final.
Update: February 24, 2025: Laura-Lynn Tyler Thompson posted a short video proving that Joni and Weiss had deep contact shortly after Marcus Lamb died.
My opinion: There is no way she was crying until her eyes hurt, as reported in the previous point. She was no grieving widow. Nineteen hour phone call? It’s hard to believe that he was only comforting her. He may have been seducing her.
(27). Update: February 19, 2025. Here is a petition to get Joni to resign and for the civil authorities to investigate allegations of child sexual abuse.
Source: Laura-Lynn Tyler Thompson: https://www.facebook.com/LauraLynnTT/posts/10162890711434319/
Here’s a short youtube video with a link to the petition.
My opinion. Please sign it. It may help a little. However, Joni seems entrenched in her attitude. She will ignore or laugh at the petition. Only two things will dislodge her from her hyper-prosperous fame and leadership over Daystar. (1) The civil authorities find her guilty of failing to report sexual abuse and even hindering authorities to investigate. Also, the sexual abuse case will go forward only when little lamb feels strong enough to report it. This may take a few years. Pray for her. Or there may be finer points of the law that I’m not aware of. (2) People stop donating to Daystar. Only then will it collapse.
Back to the first point. Maybe the parents can testify in her behalf. I don’t know. But my limited knowledge tells me that little lamb must be the one to point out who the perpetrator is (“Pete”), and her parents cannot stand in for her. Once again, pray for her.
(28). Update: February 23, 2025. Julie Roys reports that Joni prayed a written prayer to curse her enemies. Roys posted this video of the short prayer on February 21, 2025.
Source: Julie Roys Report: Daystar TV’s Joni Lamb Leads Viewers in Prayer Cursing Enemies
Jenesis Productions proves that this prayer originated with Taylor Welch, apparently a businessman, who prayed the prayer against attacks on his finances. It was not a prophetic voice, used by God over a long time, as Joni claimed. Jenesis posted the comparison video between Joni and Welch on February 23, 2025.
Source: Jenesis Productions: Daystar “Prayer” – Who Said it First?
My opinion: This is an imprecatory prayer. Some Bible interpreters say that praying imprecatory prayers are legit, just like David sometimes did in the Psalms, while other teachers say these prayers are not for New Covenant believers. Personally I don’t pray those prayers. I commit my enemies to God or I just ignore them.
And I certainly liked the section on repentance. Excellent, if the repentance is genuine.
Also, there is confusion in the prayer. Is it a prayer against human enemies or demonic beings? It’s not clear to me. If it’s against demons, then it seems too elaborate to me, but certainly one can and must pray against demonic beings attacking you and your household or even your business. Please do. But mostly just pray for God to bless your business.
(29). Update: February 27, 2025. Jenesis Productions produced a video with Taylor Welch, who says that his prayer is not against people but is for spiritual protection.
Source: Jenesis production (February 27, 2025): The Purpose of the Prayer:
Weiss still appears sedated or intoxicated. See point no. 24, above.
A bigger concern is the promotion of Kathryn Krick on the show. She’s a false apostle and has connections with a strange figure in Tanzania. He ordained her to be an apostle. Some eyewitnesses report that he is a deceived “pastor” who has connections with evil spirits. In her ministry, she sometimes asks for money before she prays for someone to be healed. Evil. This tells me that she too may be linked in to demonic beings. Definitely mark and avoid her.
Here is my post about her and many other unsound leaders:

(30). Update: February 27, 2025 Laura Lynn Tyler Thompson, Pastor Ray Curry, Jonathan Lamb, and Ohio for Freedom visited the National Religious Broadcasters, in Dallas Texas
Source: Laura Lynn Tyler Thompson: Daystar: Steve Wilhite Lies at NRB to Bring Vengeance on Podcasters
Julie Roys interviewed Ray Curry and Laura Lynn, and she put things in better order:
My opinion: The three men and woman of God were courageous to visit. Laura-Lynn interviewed Rachel Lamb, but briefly. Then Daystar employees called security and they asked them to leave. Then the police were called. They asked Laura Lynn to leave. Daystar behaved alike bullies.
Ohio for Freedom, and Pastor Ray, and Laura Lynn said that nineteen ministries have left Daystar, and more are about to leave. So maybe they too can bring down Daystar.
(31). Update, March 3, 2025: The Roys Report says:
In 2022, following the death of her husband, Joni Lamb assumed the presidency of Daystar TV and her salary jumped 140% to more than $1 million, according to an internal Daystar document obtained by The Roys Report (TRR).
Update: March 5. 2025: The Roys Report headline says it all:
Daystar TV President Joni Lamb Owns 7 Homes Worth $11.7 Million
My opinion: The salary is too high, too much. Now the revelation about the 7 homes? This is excessive. Do people want to continue donating to Daystar, when they believe that they are donating to “Heart for the World”? Everyone must stop. Then Daystar will fall.
Recommendations and Counsel
I believe my interpretations of the facts and reports and allegations have been reasonable.
So, based on all the above data, the following points are my advice and recommendations (which get updated).
(1).. First, and most importantly, there must be a truly independent third-party investigation to look into the (alleged) child abuse. This must be done, even if “Pete” is a family member and is confirmed to be a child predator, and Joni is found to have covered it up. No more protecting the current Daystar image! Daystar must lead the way in repentance and housecleaning. That’s the right image. But will the girl speak up one day?
(2).. If you think that the TV ministries on Daystar will leave, you are naive. Very few ministries will leave until the abuse is proven in court. Even then they won’t leave presumably because there will be major housecleaning at Daystar. But what about Joni’s and Doug’s perpetual adultery? The ministries make too much money to leave because of the self-deception of Joni and Doug.
Update: I may be wrong about most ministries not leaving. The Roys Report says on January 6, 2025:
Jesse Duplantis, Lance Wallnau, Jack Graham & Kunnemans Leave Daystar TV in Wake of Scandal
Julie Roys reports (January 10, 2025): Televangelist Joyce Meyer Pauses Program at Daystar, Citing Scandal at Network
Watch this space, and subscribe to the Roys Report.
Update (February 8, 2025): Or maybe I was not wrong at my initial point. The number of ministries leaving Daystar has stalled. So it looks like the best solution is for people to stop donating to Daystar and for the civil authorities to intervene, whenever the girl is ready to testify. Those are the fastest and best ways to stop Daystar in its tracks. (See the next point.)
Update: February 22, 2025: Julie Roys reports on February 21, 2025, that another ministry has decided to leave Daystar:
Source: Ray Comfort Becomes 18th Programmer to Leave Embattled Daystar TV
My opinion: This is great, and more ministries need to leave. Many, many more ministries. Will it happen? Things are going too slow.
Update: February 28, 2025: At point no. 30, they say that nineteen ministries have left Daystar with more coming. If that’s true, then maybe these departures can take down Daystar. Let’s hope so.
(3).. If vloggers and their video channels believe they can topple Daystar–particularly the leaders– then they too are naive. This won’t happen until the civil authorities, including the IRS, are in charge of the case, and one or more of the Daystar leaders goes to jail. So pray that the civil authorities will get involved, and the little girl will reach an age to feel strong enough to testify–maybe when she’s 11 to 13 years old? We shall see. Pray.
Update: Vloggers should keep on exposing. Together they can inform the people and provide healing to other victims. They can encourage donors to stop giving to Daystar. Maybe my prediction will be wrong, and the vloggers can bring down Daystar leadership. Keep going, vloggers!
(4).. Jonathan must be reinstated in some leadership capacity. (I don’t know the exact position.)
Update to this fourth point: Suzie, Doug Weiss, and Jimmy Evans need to back off from determining who leads Daystar and its future. Yes, Suzie can defend her child as ferociously as she must, but not participate in meetings about the ministry / business. In-laws and step-parents cause confusion. Stay away, Suzie and Weiss! (See the sixth point about getting a new board.)
(5).. If found guilty of covering up a crime, Joni must resign. On a personal level, she was (and is) very vulnerable and unwise–foolish. Her (alleged) coverups and self-deception are now dangerous. Everyone must stop donating to Daystar until major changes happen. Maybe the civil authorities will expose her in a court of law, so that she would have to resign because of the public outcry.
(6).. Daystar must re-form the board and make it truly independent. The new board must be cautious about receiving prophetic words. Just use Scripture-based common sense and sound business practices. First order of business: they must stop extravagant spending. No more treating donated money as a personal piggy bank or cash cow.
(7).. Divorcing a second time can compound the problem in normal circumstances, but not in this case. Doug Weiss misrepresented himself to Joni about his first marriage and his wholesome career.
[…] A wife must not separate from her husband. 11 But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not divorce his wife. (1 Cor. 7:10b-11)
In that verse “separate” = divorce (BDAG, a thick Greek lexicon). It is possible to be reconciled with the first husband (or wife). (And yes, I know what Deut. 24:1-4, particularly v. 4, says, but the NT takes priority over the OT.) Therefore, because of the unusual and unjust circumstances and Joni’s vulnerability after Marcus Lamb’s passing, she should divorce Doug and let him go back to his first wife Lisa (But maybe she does not want him anymore. I don’t know.). Then Joni should start over and find the right man this time. In the meantime, stop gaslighting us, Joni and Weiss and Jimmy Evans! Everyone can see what happened, and they won’t be dissuaded from the obvious.
(8).. Daystar needs to distance itself from Jimmy Evans, Tom Calender, and Arnold Torres.
(9).. Daystar must drop the heavy-handed “submission” culture. It is one thing to require employees to follow the reasonable standards and direction of a company (a chef who specializes in Italian food should not work at a Chinese-food restaurant, or he must learn to make Chinese food). But Daystar has taken the submission demand too far.
(10).. I’m a charismatic who believes in prophecy and have received some that were a blessing. I have even spoken a few, over the years, one on one or in a small group. However, Daystar must reduce the number of prophets and other “gifted” men and women who have Daystar’s ear. It must never again allow a prophetic word to contradict the clear teaching of Scripture.
(11).. The main leaders need to repent publicly and specifically.
Update: But they will not, because an apology is an admission of guilt, legally. Their lawyers will tell them no. It’s naive to expect them to repent and apologize.
Update: January 23, 2025: I said in an earlier point (#20) that it may be too late for Joni and Daystar to repent. I believe this now. Daystar shall fall.
So once again, we need the civil authorities to intervene. If found guilty, the new board must demand them to leave Daystar. Joni must be the first to go.

Daystar issued a statement by Steven Wilhite. Daystar Executive Speaks Out Against Misinformation (December 29, 2024). I learned that Marcus Lamb was a man of integrity and Joni Lamb is awesome and Jonathan Lamb was an awful employee. No word on Marcus Lamb’s affair and his misuse of the Paycheck Protection Program to help buy a jet, instead of paying the rent for his lower-level employees during COVID, though he returned the funds after an investigative report. No word on Joni’s (alleged) misuse of Daystar funds for personal use. No word on the strange man named Douglas Weiss and the wrongheaded marriage. Wilhite called Laura -Lynne Tyler Thompson, who has been covering this issue, a “click-bait cockroach.”

I am so confused about this whole thing!!! Please don’t tell me it’s another PTL story, from years ago!!! I fell for it as well. Giving my donations, and watching it everyday! Which I have done again now with Daystar!!! I am very sad and so disappointed in all this mud slinging!! My prayers are with the entire family for peace, and back to normal LOVE ❤️. Please in the name of Jesus Christ our Heavenly Father 🙏🙌✝️✡️🧎🏻♀️

It should not be confusing. I like to number my points for my own clarity, and here is the issue in a nutshell.
(1) Jonathan and Suzie allege that “Pete” sexually abused their daughter when she was five. That’s the core, which we should never lose sight of. (2) Daystar is fighting back, defending “Pete” and their billion-dollar ministry / business. (3) Then on January 27, 2022, Doug Weiss filed for divorce not even two months after Marcus Lamb died, on November 30, 2021. (4) Jonathan and Suzie say no to the marriage (as do a growing number). (5) Each side defends their allegations as they see fit, but I believe Daystar is being exposed as brutish and corrupt. They’re bullies.
David v. Goliath, and Daystar is Goliath, and Jonathan and Suzie are David.
That’s it in a nutshell.

I realize this was a bad situation but I believe this happened in 2021 and Police did a through Investigation.
It is unfortunate that this resurfaced over family disagreements.
Praying that God is with everyone.

No, Jonathan and Suzie say that Joni met with the girl alone, and now she won’t talk in order to indicate who the perp was. Until she is willing to speak, the case is still open. Question: are you in any way, directly or indirectly, connected to the Daystar organization? I ask because I have seen “Carol Magee” at youtube sites, saying pretty much the same thing …. Everything is great at Daystar!

Section: Facts and Allegations
Excerpt: (16) Now, due to those men’s confusing use of the gifts, Joni and Weiss are living in a perpetual state of adultery.
Question: If Doug Weiss divorced Lisa without a justifiable scriptural basis, then how can repentance occur from the continual adulterous marriage relationship other than dissolvement of the marriage?

In my Recommendations and Counsel section (see no. 7), I suggest the less-than-ideal solution of Joni divorcing him and letting him go back to Lisa, if his first wife will have him. But others may disagree with this.

Thank you for your reply.
My underlying question was “How can repentance occur from the continual adulterous marriage relationship?” if the marriage remains the same going forward from a scriptural interpretation of “Joni and Weiss are living in a perpetual state of adultery“. Repentance being a turning away from the known sin as difficult as that may be to do.
Can one live this way scripturally without any change to a potential adultery that would repeat every day? Would become an infinite loop.
Examples of the current state might be a 1) Catholic parishioner doing penance with a priest every day for the same sin, or a 2) protestant praying to Jesus Christ for repentance every day for the same sin. I would be in the category one would come before Jesus Christ in prayer with a repentant heart.
As stated earlier above “Repentance being a turning away from the known sin as difficult as that may be to do.”
I am asking the question on a scriptural interpretation basis, not in a judgmental way “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. (Romans 3:23–25 ESV)”.
Google search: Catholic penance with priest
“When you’re done confessing your sins, the priest may offer some guidance and suggest ways to avoid sins in the future. He’ll then give you a penance, which could be a form of prayer, a service or some work of mercy. Often, you’ll be able to complete your penance while still at church. Pray the Act of Contrition.”.

I trust 1 John 1:9. Here are the surrounding verses: 8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us. (1 John 1:8-10).
If we confess our sins, he will forgive. I don’t allow an over-active conscience to override Scripture and his promise to forgive.
That’s the best I can do.

Thanks Dr Jim. Your site is immensely helpful. I’ve used a discipleship series called Conquer for Christian men struggling with sexual brokenness/ porn use. Doug Weiss gives some helpful insights but tends to trigger participants as though he is already in the resurrection with his sanctification. And then this mess and the lies regarding his marriage and leaving Lisa. I pray for him for repentance. The other insights are very helpful as the Lord blessed me with dreams but I began to think in a subtle way they are infallible. Well you can imagine how I’ve been humbled of late. Thanks for the solid exegesis, application and reminders that we are his servants, we are called to the crucified life and to hold to the main and the plain.

I’m unsure if this is of any relevance to Doug Weiss’s current issues, but I’m still a mess inside after the way he treated me during a very painful time in my life in the 80s, when he was the associate pastor at Common Ground Church in Fort Worth. He was absolutely heartless; not a shred of empathy, compassion or real direction was extended to me. I believe he did not keep my issue private, in light of the way the 3rd man in charge spoke to me in the church, in front of my young guest…”YOU NEED TO GET RIGHT WITH GOD!” I was mortified to be publicly accosted in such a way. I’m still asking God to help me forgive him. Many times I’ve wanted to reach out to him and just ask him, “Would you have handled me differently, if you had it to do over?”
He scarred me, absolutely.

Well, after having questions in my mind for over thirty years, I finally decided to reach out to Doug Weiss and ask him if he ever had any regrets about how he treated me. If he’d ever thought about me over the years. And if he had it to do over, what he would do differently. I hope he’ll respond with positivity and maybe an apology…
